"While I Sing My Comeback Song.."

IDK.. maybe it's something in the Air during my Birthday month.. but I awoke to this song in my head and it played as clear as if I had it really blasting out my Beats by Dre. I can't say enough about this record.. it's the fu*kin shxt! Anthem isn't a strong enough word either - these were my Game Scriptures as an adolescent.. LoL WTF did I really know though? HaHa.. whatever it was, this record always had me ready for whatever.. even rejection (where applicable.)

Or maybe it's just the fact that I recently connected with Mr. Morrison and i'm just excited about the potential collaboration we have planned. 0_o Yeah, I'm quite the Marketer.. no pun. So um.. excuse me.. "While I Sing My Comeback Song."

*Sparked*

This song and video are both relevant to me in many ways.. I had the honor of speaking to 2Pac over the phone during the production of this video (yes, i'm in it.. see if you can spot me) ..and the engineer of this record eventually became my engineer, helping me produce my debut album and many projects after that.. I never knew when I was shooting this that I would end up doing what I have done so far in this industry.. and though I missed my sole opportunity to exchange dialogue with Pac in person, I have been blessed to work with just about everyone he has blessed.

Respect to The Greatest.

LOS ANGELES QUEEN

My Wife (that just doesn't know it yet) arrived in my Hometown this weekend to perform 1 of 3 shows that you had to get ya tickets an entire year ago to attend. The 1st on my Mother's Birthday, which also happens to be the Big Homie Nate Dogg's as well. You see how my Wife do!? LoL But yeah.. just had to pay homage to the Queen. Just like Pamela Grier, she's showing these New Girls how it's done!

Game Like I Read The Directions.

When I was a Teen, I used to STUDY this record. I use the word study because "listen to alot" would be a lazy-azz understatement! Every single night like clockwork I would put the copy of this record I recorded off the local station on and write in my head to the ending fade until I would fall asleep. When I became Shady Montage guess which instrumental I wanted to recreate first!? Before Red and Meth's "Serial Killer" there was Shady Montage's "Party Favaz." Before that, it was "Fat Cats and Bigger Fish."

Yeah.. I (been) on that Original Bay Shxt..

"New Definition of Summer Madness"

One could say that Another Bad Creation and the release of this Will Smith classic showed me a contrast to my introduction into gangsta rap music. Clearly it was an early sign, without me even knowing it, that I would eventually mesh these styles together to develop my own. "Where I Wanna Be" is proof of this.. and if you watch both videos, the similarities are blatant. Summer might be just starting.. but this record is 4eva. This, and "Where I Wanna Be" LoL..

NATE DOGG: Cool Like That

It took me a minute to get to this because it's still slowly setting in that my homeboy Nate Dogg is no longer here with us. I didn't want to come off disrespectful or inconsiderate to Nate or his (immediate) family, so I've mostly remained quiet in my activities, while watching others use this truly tragic event as just that.. an event (to benefit from.) While I'm on Twitter expressing my disdain for the industry's ill-regard for Nate and our coast as a whole, I run across the few inconsiderate remarks from individuals, who don't know me, yet criticize me.. for what?? For being fortunate enough to be introduced to the public by one of the same great artists I grew up idolizing? My favorite line of criticism is "If it wasn't for Nate, (that) record wouldn't even have been a hit." In the voice of Charlie Sheen.. "DUH!" Nate Dogg "Made" EVERY SINGLE RECORD he blessed his voice on.. period. He was THAT Great. He was even greater to me, considering all that he did with and (for) me. The same way Snoop and Warren looked out for their Dogg, I feel he did the same for me. No questions, ever. Anytime he rolled up in one of his limos and had that box of *Good* with him, he always walked up happy. I don't ever remember a time he brought negative energy to the lab, backstage, a set or ANYWHERE. "Buddy Luv" was always cool. Literally. And I would be lying if I didn't admit that it's a combination of Snoop, Warren and Nate's (not to omit K-Dee) "coolness" that helped mold my own musical style. I grew up on "Indo Smoke" and "Aint No Fun" ..I mean, I worshipped those records. Nate Dogg is 2nd on the list of reasons of why I love those records so much, the 1st being the tracks of course. I once watched Nate Dogg show N.U.N.E. his whole method of recording vocals and I thought that was the coolest sh*t ever. An artist will not typically share techniques and whatnot as this is considered sacred information.. but Nate had no problem teaching Greatness to his peers. And that's what makes Nate the Great Man he is. I regret not visiting him once the information finally surfaced where he was rehabilitating. I will be the first to admit that I did not go. However, my reasons are my own and though I am at no obligation to explain myself to anyone but GOD.. in this case, I don't really mind. I really did not want to see my Dogg in that condition when one of my last memories of him is chillin with me, Mizza and Ludacris in a club out of state, playing pool, smokin hella blunts and loving life and the point we were at in it. In my heart, I really believed Nate was going to return to a much better condition than he was in.. and I promised myself I would emerge from my emotional shadows and finally drop in once that happened. Maybe I should've known better, but am I the only one to have made this mistake? Ironically yet still fortunately, my last memories of Nate remain as I would like them to. Going through all the unreleased material we recorded and watching all the vhs tapes of shows we did on TV, I truly realize how much this man looked out for me and my well-being. And he did it all cause that's just how he was.. COOL LIKE THAT.

I always hit him with a copy of finished product as he prepared to leave the studio at the end of many nights. He showed his gratitude by blastin it out his limo windows as he pulled off into the night. I can only imagine what type of music he is making upstairs right now.. but there iz one thing I'll bet on.. the homie Nate will have a copy waiting for me once we reunite.

Don't FORGET.

Nah.. I ain't watching the movie "Big".. LoL. That movie always pops into my head when I hear this record (remind me to put a trampoline in my house, haha.) I'm on this tip for other reasons, more general ones. Simply put, I don't think anyone likes to be forgotten.. ok, ( I ) don't. So if you are into sharing your positive energies, similar to myself, then today, tomorrow and everyday let your significants know that you are thinking of them. Every day I run across a mention of "Where I Wanna Be" or any of my other work, I can't help but smile like i'm back in my "Money Owners" video.. LoL. You'll notice that I posted an indie video instead of the record's real music video.. That's because the homie John Bridge fu*ks this sh*t up on the bass! ..and yall know I love Bass more than anything in this world (except Sade.)

Now, this rule doesn't apply to all. In my case, it's my loved ones (significants) and all of my supporters around the world. But if I don't care about you (and vice versa) I wouldn't want you to waste your time thinking about me when you could be thinking about jumpin in front of a Greyhound Bus. =O

SHEIST wrote that.. not Me. LMAO

"Thas How I'mma Get Paid."

Look closely.. closer.. closer.. Do you see a very young Shady Montage (my old moniker) in this video? Of course you do.. I look exactly the same now as I did in this video, lol. Seriously though, how many of us have or had "Homies" like this? You tell them what you want to do and they tell you why you can't. I was having a nice discussion about my former High School yesterday and it made me think of everyone out on the quad at lunch that never believed me when I said "Thas how I'mma get paid."

I dedicate this video to you, suckas.

Shout Out to Badd Lucc.. that n*gga believed.
